Can Digital Technology and MHealth Really Improve Health Outcomes at Scale?

No. 181 Aegon-Industrial Global Health Seminar Series

Abstract

All countries around the world are challenged by the epidemic of chronic diseases and the challenges this poses for health systems, economies and people with chronic conditions and their families. With the ubiquitous availability of and access to the internet and smart devices over the last 10 years, the potential for mhealth to improve health outcomes for populations with chronic conditions is great. However, there are still few examples of this being doing at scale. This presentation will discuss the issues and challenges and the need for new ways of undertaking research in this rapidly evolving field.
