Abstract:
This session aims to introduce fundamental concepts of implementation research (IR) and its potential to understand and address health inequities. Drawing on several examples from infectious diseases of poverty, an overview of frameworks and methods to conduct IR will be presented alongside key principles for knowledge translation required for disseminating implementation research findings and scale up of interventions.
Speaker Bio:
Claudia Abreu Lopes is a Research Lead for capacity building with the United Nations University International Institute of Global Health (UNU-IIGH). Her work focuses on the gendered aspects of digital technologies for health and methodologies to inform health policy design, implementation, and evaluation. Prior to joining UNU IIGH, Claudia worked in academia in Portugal and in the UK, and at UN Women, Girl Effect and Africa’s Voices Foundation. She is a social psychologist with a PhD in Social Research Methods from the London School of Economics.
