The Project Results National Dissemination Workshop “Achieving UN Health Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in China by 2030: Developing Evidence-based Policy Options for Action” was held at the China World Hotel in Beijing on May 5, 2018. The event was organized by Duke University and Duke Kunshan University with support from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and the Research Department of Social Development, Development Research Center of the State Council.
China has achieved impressive progress toward achieving the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) launched in 2000, paving the way to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in 2030. However, a recent analysis revealed that the country will face challenges in meeting the health-related SDG targets established in 2015.
Grant from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation was given to Professor Shenglan Tang and his team at Duke Kunshan University to help China meet the United Nations’ health sustainable development goals and the Chinese government’s ‘Healthy China 2030’ targets.
GHRC organized three main CCUGH events, including the 2017 Workshop for Academic Paper Writing for International Publications, the 2017 Implementation Research in Global Health Workshop, and the 2017 Chinese Consortium of Universities for Global Health (CCUGH) Meeting in Guangzhou.
On the morning of December 1st, the graduate students from the oral communication courses in Environmental Policy, Global Health, and Medical Physics shared some of their research and recent course work with the Duke Kunshan community at the Duke Kunshan Graduate Colloquium.
