Since October 2018, scientists at Duke Kunshan University (DKU) and Duke University have been collaborating with InDevR Inc. to evaluate a lab-on-a-chip technique for the rapid identification of the influenza virus subtype from human and animal samples.
The FluChip-8G test promises to be a faster and easier way to determine the subtype of seasonal and non-seasonal influenza viruses.

Study teams at DKU and Duke University are comparing the FluChip-8G assays with the classical World Health Organization molecular assays for influenza A and B viruses. This new technology could benefit the people and animals of Jiangsu Province. It has the potential to reduce influenza A and B characterization times from two weeks to eight hours.
