
The two-year research project “Achieving the UN 2030 Health First Sustainable Development Goals in China: Develop-ing Evidence-Based Policy Recommendations”, led by Professor Shenglan Tang and funded by the Bil & Melinda GatesFoundation, was successfully completed in 2018. The main output of the project is Achieving the Health China 2030 Goals – An Evidence-Based Study (实现“健康中国2030”目标–基实证的研究) published by People’s Medical Publishing House in October 2019.
The editors-in-chief of the book are Prof. Shenglan Tang and Yanfeng Ge, who is the Director of the Social Development Research Department of the Development Research Center of the State Council.
This book provides a comprehensive analysis of China’s achievements in achieving the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), as well as the main challenges it may face in achieving the UN health-related sustainable development goals and strategies to address them. It also presents an in-depth analysis of the four critical areas including child nutritionmateral, child and reproductive heath, tuberculosis, and non-communicable chronic diseases, with Jiangsu, Hubei and Yunnan provinces as representatives of regions with different levels of economic development.
