The “2024 China Global Health Leadership Capacity Building Training Program” was successfully held from June 16 to 26, 2024, in Kunshan and Beijing.
Spanning the summers of 2022 and 2023, Semin Kim (UG, Class of 2024), from the Molecular Bioscience major, and her team collected 200 nasopharyngeal swab samples from cats at nine local animal clinics in Kunshan, China. This study represents the first molecular epidemiology and phylogenetic analysis of feline calicivirus (FCV) in the region. Their findings have recently been published in BMC Virology Journal, one of the top journals in the field.

From March 4 to 8, a team of seven members from the Global Health Research Center and Environment Research Center of Duke Kunshan University traveled to Manila, Philippines, seeking further partnerships with leading international organizations and the University of the Philippines.
Prof. Lijing Yan’s team found that maintaining frequent physical activity or switching from a sedentary lifestyle to an active one would benefit them with longer survival time among the most senior population (over 80 years old).
