The “2024 China Global Health Leadership Capacity Building Training Program” was successfully held from June 16 to 26, 2024, in Kunshan and Beijing.
Spanning the summers of 2022 and 2023, Semin Kim (UG, Class of 2024), from the Molecular Bioscience major, and her team collected 200 nasopharyngeal swab samples from cats at nine local animal clinics in Kunshan, China. This study represents the first molecular epidemiology and phylogenetic analysis of feline calicivirus (FCV) in the region. Their findings have recently been published in BMC Virology Journal, one of the top journals in the field.

The Innovation Lab for Vaccine Delivery Research (VaxLab) at Duke Kunshan University newly published a thematic series ” Advancing the National Immunization Program in China: Making it More Effective and Sustainable” in the BMC Infectious Disease of Poverty, a top medical journal under the Springer Nature group.
From March 4 to 8, a team of seven members from the Global Health Research Center and Environment Research Center of Duke Kunshan University traveled to Manila, Philippines, seeking further partnerships with leading international organizations and the University of the Philippines.
The ambitious targets set in the Sustainable Development Goals 3.3 (SDG 3.3) and the End TB Strategy have galvanized international efforts, aiming for a 90% reduction in the number of TB deaths and an 80% reduction in the TB incidence rate compared with levels in 2015. Since 2015, there has been growing and bolder leadership by policymakers in India, Indonesia, and China toward ending TB epidemic and advancing Universal Health Coverage. At the heart of this global endeavor, Universal Health Coverage reforms in the three countries embody a deep commitment to ensuring access to TB care and financial protection for TB patients.
