DKU GHRC Commissioned to Survey Health Service Use in Jiangsu Province

8 October 2014

The Global Health Research Center of DKU has recently been commissioned by the Center of Health Statistics and Information of the National Health and Family Planning Commission to undertake a survey in Jiangsu Province to understand the pattern of health service use for Chinese residents. Professors Shenglan Tang and Lijing Yan will direct the project which aims to understand the current features of health service utilization and expenditure, as well as the financial burden of healthcare expenditure placed on the residents in Jiangsu Province. One rural county and one urban district will be selected as study sites from which 200 households each will be sampled. This project will collect relevant data on service use and costs from these households for a three-month period. The research findings will provide concrete evidence for the evaluation of the on-going health system reform to inform the development of the thirteenth national five-year health development plan, and for the future improvement of health resource allocation and health care management.
