3 Learning Sites

Active learning is a defining feature of our global health program. Students actively collaborate with a dedicated faculty mentor to craft an innovative research project, incorporating a minimum of 10 weeks of immersive field experience. Historically, our students have explored more than 20 countries/regions across six continents for their field studies. The primary objective of the fieldwork is to involve students in investigating global health disparities, with a specific emphasis on the impact on vulnerable groups. Additionally, this hands-on experience serves as a catalyst, inspiring the development of their master’s thesis.

Report on Graduates Career’s Development 2023

The Master of Science in Global Health Program (MSc-GH) at Duke Kunshan University （DKU） was established jointly by DKU and the Duke Global Health Institute in August 2014. The program has received approval from the Chinese Ministry of Education. Students will obtain a master’s degree from Duke University and become members of Duke’s global alumni network once they complete the two-year study and practices.

Since the establishment of the program in 2014, we have continuously improved our teaching methods and curriculum quality, striving to enhance the quality of education to meet the evolving demands of the global health field. Up till now, the program has educated 112 talented students, with 28 exceptional individuals joining our most recent entering cohort and 67 graduates. These graduates purse their careers around the world and have achieved remarkable success. They have made significant advances not only in academic research but have also demonstrated outstanding employment performance in medical institutions, international organizations, and non-governmental organizations.

Our program has continuously enhanced its education quality, meeting the evolving talent demands of the global health sector. To date, the program has cultivated seven cohorts, totaling 63 graduates. These alumni have not only made significant strides in academic research but have also demonstrated exceptional performance in various sectors, including healthcare institutions, intergovernmental organizations, and NGOs.

In 2023, our program celebrated the graduation of 12 distinguished scholars. Nine of these graduates have embarked on careers within the expansive field of health, while three have elected to further their academic pursuits by enrolling in doctoral programs. During the intensive two-year program, students immersed themselves in the forefront of global health issues, actively participating in research exploration and practice. They engaged in academic discussions, organized and attended international health forums, sparking intellectual exchanges with global professionals. Concurrently, the graduates conducted thorough field research both domestically and abroad, deepening their understanding of various regional health statuses and systems, thus establishing a robust foundation for their research and practice.

We have the utmost confidence in this group of exceptional graduates, believing they will continue to shine in the next chapters of their lives. They are poised to become distinguished representatives in the global health sector. Meanwhile, we look forward to training more talents with international perspectives and cross-cultural backgrounds, making even greater contributions to the sustainable development of global health.

昆山杜克大学全球健康理学硕士专业由中国教育部批准设立，由昆山杜克大学、杜克大学全球健康研究所和杜克大学研究生院合作举办，通过两年学习和实践，学生们将获得美国杜克大学硕士学位，并成为杜克大学全球校友网络的一员。

 

自2014年专业成立以来，我们一直不断提升教学方法和内容，努力提高培养质量，以满足不断发展的全球健康领域的需求。专业共培养了7届共63名毕业生(另有49名学生在读)，他们在全球范围内取得了令人瞩目的成就。这些毕业生不仅在学术研究方面取得巨大进展还在医疗机构、国际组织和非政府组织等领域展现出了杰出的就业表现。

 

2023届全球健康理学硕士专业毕业生共12人，其中9位选择在大健康领域工作，3位选择攻读博士学位。在为期两年的学习过程中，他们全身心地投入，专注于全球健康领域的前沿议题，积极投入科研项目的探索与实践。他们不仅参与学术研讨，还积极组织参加国际健康论坛，与全球专业人士交流，激发思想火花。与此同时，毕业生们还深入国内外进行实地调研，增进对不同地区卫生状况和卫生服务体系的了解，为他们的研究与实践打下坚实的基础。
