How does an economics degree holder succeed in applying for a hospital position? Moxuan Yang (Class of 2023) from the MSc Global Health Program summarizes his cross-border job search story by saying that the “hard and soft skills” honed during his global health studies were the key to getting the job offer.
“I hope that one day in the future, I can become the CEO of an investment company,” Olivia introduced herself to the class during the program’s first week.
Runpeng spent the summer of 2023 in Geneva at the Global Fund, combining his field research with an internship to investigate the issue of fund allocation in global health projects.”Conducting overseas fieldwork was the most significant reason that attracted me to apply for the Duke Kunshan MSc Global Health program,” he said.
“DKU unleashed my potential. I am happy to follow my interests and transform my role from a clinical nurse to a medical editor. I am expecting more possibilities for my future in the healthcare industry.”
Hui-Hsin (Ema) Hsiao (MS’24) is currently organizing and writing her thesis, with research data collected during fieldwork in Hanoi, Vietnam, last summer. “The summer of 2023 is a memorable chapter in my life,” she said.
“There will always be more road ahead. I want to encourage everyone to plan your journey, set goals, look forward to the next stop, and take pit-stops when needed. Help others along the way when you can and keep in contact with the people you meet from all your life’s adventures.”
“I hope I can use what I’ve learned to make a difference in my community in the near future. Issues in developing countries need to be addressed by their own professionals.”
